Helping You Navigate the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federal initiative aimed at improving access to dental services for Canadians. The plan focuses on providing dental care support to individuals and families who do not have private dental insurance and who meet certain income criteria.
The program is targeted to support households with incomes below a certain threshold (adjusted family net income below $90,000 per year) that do not have existing private dental benefits. The primary goal of the program is to reduce financial barriers to dental care, improving overall oral health and reducing disparities in access to necessary dental treatments.
What Services are Covered?
The plan typically covers a range of essential and preventive dental services, which may include:
- Cleanings & routine scaling
- Dental exams & X-rays
- Fillings (Restorations)
- Extractions & complex essential care
Co-payments & Out-of-Pocket Costs
Please note that the CDCP is not a free dental program and does not cover all dental costs or services. While the program subsidizes dental care costs, there may still be out-of-pocket expenses depending on the services required and how your individual plan is structured.
Depending on your household income, the CDCP covers a percentage of the costs (100%, 60%, or 40%). Parents may be responsible for a co-payment or the difference between the CDCP fee schedule and our regular office fees.
We will work with you directly to maximize the benefits you are entitled to and ensure you understand any costs before beginning treatment.
