Common Dental Scenarios

Follow these immediate steps to increase the chances of resolving pain and saving injured teeth.

Toothaches

Toothaches in children can be caused by anything from emerging new teeth to deep tooth decay.

What to do:
  • Inspect the area for stuck food debris and rinse with warm water.
  • Administer children's dosage of Tylenol or Advil to manage discomfort.
  • Call us to schedule a check-up as soon as possible.

Broken or Chipped Tooth

Commonly caused by playground slips, sports impact, or biting hard food.

What to do:
  • Rinse the mouth with warm water and apply a cold compress to the lip to reduce swelling.
  • If a major piece broke off exposing the pink nerve, call us immediately for an emergency booking.
  • Try to locate and save the broken tooth fragments.

Knocked-Out Tooth

A knocked-out tooth (Dental Avulsion) is a critical emergency requiring instant action.

What to do:
  • Baby Teeth: Do NOT try to re-implant a baby tooth. Call us for a check-up to ensure root fragments are clear.
  • Adult Teeth: Must see a dentist within 60 minutes. Keep the tooth moist by storing it in milk, saline, or in the patient's mouth. Go to the clinic or nearest ER immediately.
